In the spirit of coming back to Windows, I decided to try a full-blown IDE: JetBrains WebStorm. I didn't find an equivalent "remote" connection, so I just opened the project as is, by pointing the Windows-based IDE to the mounted Linux fs. It started indexing files, choked, and froze. After disabling indexing, I was able to use the IDE and make the edits, and even take advantage of nice refactoring tools, but then faced another issue: WebStorm's git feature would error out. I later found out that having git installed in Windows while also having another instance installed in WSL would cause issues.
